20160508-Standing-Strong-for-a-fair-deal_V2

As we explained in our latest bargaining update, less than one hour before our contract extension expired at midnight on Saturday, May 7, Kroger attempted to force us to accept an awful agreement.

On Wednesday, May 18, we’ll take a vote on this proposal. As your bargaining committee, we strongly recommend a NO VOTE on Kroger’s greedy proposal to cut off health insurance for retirees entirely by the end of the year.

Kroger Roanoke Membership Meeting
Wednesday, May 18, 2016
Salem Civic Center, 1001 Roanoke Blvd, Salem, VA
Registration opens at 9:00 a.m.
Meeting begins at 10:00 a.m.

As a member of Local 400, it is critical that you make every effort to attend this meeting. Put in for the day off now and if you get rejected, contact your union rep immediately. If you need a ride, your union rep can also connect you with coworkers who are driving to the meeting.

If the proposal is voted down, as we strongly recommend, then we will take a second vote to authorize a strike. A strike authorization would not mean we are on strike immediately, but would authorize the bargaining team to call for a strike if we can’t get a fair deal.

Our bargaining team is visiting stores this week along with many additional union staff. We’ll be talking to customers, elected officials, community allies, and everyone who will support us in this fight.

We need you to stand strong with us and fully participate in all of our upcoming activities. Sticking together is the only way we can get a better deal. Together, we will win a fair contract!
