An important update for the recently unionized stores in the Richmond/Tidewater region in Virginia
After two days of meetings with Kroger this week, they continue to propose freezing your wages. Under their proposal, after not providing you the raises you normally receive in August, most people would not get a raise until January 2028 at the earliest, with some people potentially having to wait years longer for a raise.
This is unacceptable. Your union committee is proposing raises for everyone immediately, and regular raises going forward, just like everyone else in the Richmond/Tidewater stores that are already under contract.
They are also proposing to keep you out of the existing union contract and in separate contracts – one for each store. Kroger wants to divide and conquer by separating every store into individual contracts, making you weaker when we go to negotiate improvements. We all work for the same company in the same area and should be under the same contract with the same wages, benefits, and working conditions.
We will not let Kroger freeze our pay, and we will not let them divide us. Look out for upcoming opportunities to learn more and take action. We will continue to keep you updated every step of the way.
