Led by D.C. Mayoral nominee Janeese Lewis George, virtually all of the candidates endorsed by UFCW Local 400 in the Washington, D.C. primary election won their races and will be on the November 3 general election ballot.
Backed by a UFCW Local 400-fueled grassroots army, Lewis George won a huge victory with 54% of the vote in the Democratic primary, an 18-point margin over the runner-up.
“Our members knocked on doors, made phone calls, and turned out to vote for candidates who will fight for D.C.’s working families,” said UFCW Local 400 President Mark P. Federici. “They made their voice heard, as did all of the D.C. labor movement, and the result will be a mayor and City Council that works to increase the standard of living, strengthen the rights, and improve the quality of life for D.C. residents.”
