We held another day of talks with Kroger’s management team about integrating the five newly-unionized stores (524, 542, 554, 577, and 580) into our Richmond/Tidewater contract that covers the other stores in the region.
But instead of bringing these stores under contract like they have in the past, Kroger is again ignoring their agreement with us and proposing to separate you from other Kroger workers doing the same jobs at stores in the Richmond and Tidewater areas.
Kroger wants to divide and conquer by separating every store into individual contracts, making us weaker when we go to negotiate improvements.
It gets worse. Kroger is also proposing to freeze pay for some employees and give only small one-time bonuses for others.
We will not be divided. We deserve the same rights and protections as other Kroger workers.
We are meeting with Kroger’s management team again on October 5, 6, and 7. Look out for additional opportunities to take action and show Kroger we will not be divided and we will not accept a second-rate deal. We are one union!
