An important update for the recently unionized stores in the Richmond/Tidewater region in Virginia
Kroger associates at five stores (524, 542, 554, 577, and 580) in the Richmond/Tidewater region in Virginia are now officially unionized with UFCW Local 400. The next step is to get you under the same union contract as the other stores in the region, but Kroger is refusing to treat you fairly.
Instead, Kroger is proposing to freeze your wages. Under their proposal, after not providing you the raises you normally receive in August, most people would not get a raise until January 2028 at the earliest, with some people potentially having to wait years longer for a raise.
They are also proposing to keep you out of the existing union contract and in separate contracts – one for each store. Kroger wants to divide and conquer by separating every store into individual contracts, making you weaker when we go to negotiate improvements.
This is unacceptable. We will not let Kroger freeze our pay, and we will not let them divide us with a second-rate deal. We demand:
- Raises for everyone immediately
- Regular raises going forward just like everyone else with a contract
- The same contract with the same pay, benefits, and working conditions as the rest of the region
It’s time to take action and make Kroger listen! Join us at an upcoming action near you:
