LANDOVER, Md. (October 14, 2025) – Today, two United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) local unions, UFCW Local 400 and UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO, have officially endorsed Wanika Fisher for Prince George’s County State’s Attorney.

“Wanika is a true friend and champion of UFCW members,” said UFCW Local 400 President Mark Federici. “From her work in the House of Delegates advancing legislation such as paid family medical leave and tenant protections, to her work on the Prince George’s County Council, she has been a tireless advocate of working families. The bottom line is when our members need her, she shows up. Whether we are gathering in the union hall to learn about politics or walking the picket line to win a new contract, Wanika is always willing to show up to help. She is the best choice for Prince George’s County and we look forward to her service as State’s Attorney.”

“Wanika Fisher has proven that she understands the struggles of working people and isn’t afraid to take action to address them,” said UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO President Gino Renne. “She’s smart, and she’s committed to justice—not just in the courtroom, but in the community. Our members know they can count on her to fight for fairness and accountability, and that’s exactly what we need in a State’s Attorney.”

The two local unions represent approximately 5,700 voters in the county. UFCW Local 400 is one of the largest private sector labor unions in the region with members working predominantly in Safeway, Shoppers, and Giant Food grocery stores. UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO represents members at the Prince George’s County Library, the Park and Planning Commission and the City of Laurel.
