LANDOVER, Md. (January 24, 2025) – Today, United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 400 Union, which represents cannabis workers throughout Maryland, released the following statement following Governor Moore’s appointment of Tabatha Robinson as director of the Maryland Cannabis Administration:

“We are pleased to welcome Tabatha Robinson to Maryland and we look forward to collaborating with her toward our shared goal of an equitable cannabis industry where all workers are valued. We are hopeful that her experience in New York, where cannabis employees benefit from similar labor peace agreements that we have strongly advocated for in Maryland, has led her to appreciate that a unionized workforce is the best way to ensure equity for all who work in this emerging industry. We are eager to work together to promote and protect the well-being of cannabis workers throughout the state.”

UFCW represents workers at several Maryland cannabis dispensaries, including: Story cannabis dispensaries in Mechanicsville and Hyattsville; the Apothecarium locations in Burtonsville and Cumberland; Sweetspot in Olney; Green Goods in Rockville; Potomac Holistics in Rockville; Zen Leaf locations in Germantown and Towson; PharmaCann Verilife Dispensary in Westminster; and MaryMed, LLC in Hurlock, among others.
