The proposed merger of Kroger and Albertsons is a looming disaster for everyone who buys groceries in America. And for our members who work in the grocery industry, this deal puts our livelihoods at risk.

If federal regulators approve this merger, we will all have fewer choices of where to shop and what to buy, and prices of essential groceries will go up higher than they already are. In areas where these companies both operate, the merger will result in store closures and layoffs.

That’s why we’ve teamed up with more than 100 organizations across the country to stop the merger. As part of a nationwide week of activities across the country, on April 4 and 5, we’re holding #StopTheMerger protests at Kroger and Safeway to demonstrate our opposition to this disaster deal and call on the Federal Trade Commission to stop the merger before it’s too late.
