Negotiations with Kroger on our next union contract are moving slowly. While we have been continuing to work hard after an exhausting year, Kroger has been disrespecting us and our hard work by not fully engaging in contract negotiations. The company has been unprepared for some of our scheduled dates and canceled others, and now is unavailable to meet with us again until July 20. But we won’t let this drag out.

We risked our lives and the lives of our families to keep these stores open during the pandemic. We increased sales at every single store under this contract, and across the country, Kroger has increased profits by 90 percent! We will not accept a substandard contract at a time when the company is more successful than ever.

Instead of rewarding us for our sacrifice, Kroger is refusing to get serious at the bargaining table and proposing to replace our health care with a company plan. Under a company plan, we would lose any say in our health care coverage, including the costs and benefits. Kroger could eliminate benefits or raise costs at any time without your input. Kroger can’t even get our schedules right, why would we trust them with our health care?
