A crowd of more than 60 Kroger associates gathered at a store in Charleston this evening for day two of a week of action calling on Kroger to negotiate a fair contract with the workers.

Yesterday, Kroger workers gathered at a store in Beckley and distributed “thank you” cards to customers to express gratitude to shoppers choosing to shop at the unionized grocery chain. The gathering was featured on WVVA News later that evening. Today’s crowd at the Charleston store also spent the evening passing out thank you cards to shoppers.

Actions are planned every evening this week as negotiations continue on a new union contract covering 4,200 Kroger employees at 39 stores in West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky. A similar action is planned for tomorrow evening at a Kroger store in Ashland, Kentucky.
