Since the new year, we have had three weeks of negotiations with Giant & Safeway and we remain far apart on nearly every single issue. These negotiations have been difficult, complicated, and frustrating. The reality is that in the last year, negotiations between these companies and UFCW locals throughout the country have taken far longer than usual. We are eager to get a new contract, but we need that contract to provide the things we have earned through our hard work: wages we can live on, schedules we can depend on, healthcare we can afford, and a retirement we can count on. We will not be rushed into a bad deal.
We have more dates scheduled for negotiations next week. As we move forward, we will continue to keep you updated every step of the way.
