Federal Mediator Called in to Roanoke Contract Negotiations with Kroger

Today we met with Kroger representatives to continue negotiations on our next Roanoke area contract, but very little progress was made. We still have many aspects of the contract to address in order to meet our goals, such as pay, scheduling, benefits, and paid time off, before our current agreement expires in just two days, on Saturday, June 7. To help move things along, we have called in a federal mediator to assist in negotiations.

While talks continued at the bargaining table, members were out in stores here in Roanoke, as well as in West Virginia, Richmond, and Norfolk, collecting signatures on petitions to send a clear message to Kroger: it’s time to get serious about negotiating a better contract!

We will continue to circulate those petitions and we want to thank everyone who has signed so far. By adding your name, you’re helping to show Kroger that we are united for the better contract we deserve that includes:

  • Better pay
  • Better schedules
  • Better staffing
  • Maintain health benefits
  • More paid time off

As bargaining continues, we will keep you informed every step of the way. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to talk to your union representative, shop steward, or contact us with your questions or concerns.
