This week, negotiations began on our next Roanoke union contract with Kroger. We are early in the process and there is much to do before our current agreement expires on June 7, 2025.

Thankfully, we have an excellent team of members on our bargaining advisory committee who have given their time to help negotiate our next contract. Together they have a combined 79 years working at Kroger and are ready to fight for a better contract. Meet the team:

  • Charles Price, Kroger #400, Roanoke, Va.
  • Cindy Shelton, Kroger #402, Blacksburg, Va.
  • John Hudson, Kroger #209, Roanoke, Va.
  • Letitia Wilkerson, Kroger #334, Charlottesville, Va.
  • Matt Shifflet, Kroger #255, Abingdon, Va.

Based on our contract surveys and meetings with members, we have clear goals for bargaining:

  • Better pay
  • Better schedules
  • Better staffing
  • Maintain health benefits
  • More paid time off

We won’t achieve any of these goals unless we all stay informed and stand united. As we move forward, we will invite you to take action with us to keep the pressure on Kroger to negotiate a fair deal. If you see one of us in your store, don’t hesitate to talk to us, ask us questions, or make suggestions. We want to hear from you. We need your ideas and we need your participation to succeed.

In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to talk to your union representative, shop steward, or contact us with your questions or concerns.
