Local 400 Endorses D.C. Candidates for City Council Election
Elissa Silverman and Rev. Graylan Hagler for D.C. City Council At-Large seats in the upcoming election!
Elissa Silverman was extremely active in the D.C. fight for the Large Retailer Accountability Act as well as the push for a living wage in the city. “Local 400 was a great ally with me in advocating for living wages in not just commercial food industries but for workers everywhere in the city,” said Silverman. “You are great advocates and fighters to make sure working families have a place in this city, can raise families in this city and can be a part of the future of this city.”
As a member of the Writers Guild union when she worked for the Washington Post, she understands the differences unions make on the lives of working families everywhere.
Rev. Graylan Hagler is currently Senior Minister of Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, where he has served since 1992. Hagler has been instrumental in the Respect D.C. coalition, community-based group Faith Strategies and working alongside UFCW Local 400 in our fights in the District surrounding the LRAA legislation as well as raising the minimum wage in the city!
