Harry Lee Dull, 71, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, at Augusta Health, Fishersville.
He was an Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. He received the Vietnam Accommodation’s, Purple Heart, and Good Conduct medals. Mr. Dull was owner of Dull’s Catering.
Harry was a true labor leader serving on the Executive Board of the Virginia State AFL-CIO for more than 40 years. He was president of the Shenandoah Valley Central Labor Council which became Western Virginia Federation of Labor as Vice-President. He was vice president of the Augusta County Fire and Rescue Company 11 (Preston Yancey) Volunteer Services. He also cooked for the monthly dinners.
Harry was active with the Staunton Braves for many years, cooking hamburgers (Harry’s Burger Barn) and serving ice cream. He loved meeting the boys and feeding them. He was also a life member of VFW Post 2216 and the Fishersville Ruritan Club.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, in St. James Lutheran Church, Fishersville by Pastors James Pence and William Ballance. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. Military rites will be conducted by the Augusta Staunton VFW Post 2216.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, in the Henry Funeral Home.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Augusta Health CPU, PCU nurses, Susan – skilled care, and doctors that helped him through his final journey. His final words “Buy American”, “Stay true to your union”.
