when: Wednesday, April 16, 2014 – 11:00am to 2:00pm, WEAR GOLD!
where: Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between 3rd St and 13 1/2 St
why: On April 16, 1862, President Abraham Lincoln signed into law the DC Compensated Emancipation Act, which abolished slavery in the District and freed 3,100 enslaved persons.
Following the parade there will be a live concert at Freedom Plaza with performances by Talib Kweli, Doug E. Fresh, DJ Kool, J. Ivy and DC’s own Black Alley Band! Concert kicks off at 4:00p.m. FREE EVENT!
