Inspired by the theme “Blue. Gold. Bold. Powerful Together,” convention delegates representing over 1.3 million UFCW members are in Chicago this week to chart a course for the next five years and beyond. Their aim is to raise standards and build power for workers in the grocery, retail, and food manufacturing industries. “In unity, there is strength,” said UFCW Local 400 President Mark Federici. “This Convention is about taking our unity to new heights, strategizing together about how to increase our members’ clout at the bargaining table, and joining forces to empower even more workers with UFCW representation. The outcome of our deliberations will mean more power for our members and new opportunities to save the struggling middle class from extinction. All of us in Local 400 couldn’t be more proud to be a part of this historic moment.”
