Members of United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 400 working at Parkersburg (W.Va.) Care Center — which is owned and operated by Genesis Health Care — ratified a three-year collective bargaining agreement last week. The agreement raises their living standards, protects their health benefits and restructures their mandatory overtime to have a fair rotation among employees. The contract impacts 35 members who are CNAs, housekeeping, laundry, dietary staff members. “This is a first-rate contract,” said Chuck Miller, Local 400 West Virginia Regional Director. “Out of all the contracts Genesis has, this one, in my opinion, is the best one because we didn’t have to give anything up. We kept everything.”
