Taking the Mystery Out of Retirement Planning–A Focus on Women & Retirement
Tuesday Sept. 11 @ 1:00-2:15p.m.
Sponsored by the U.S. Dept of Labor, Employee Benefits Security Administration.
For many women, planning for retirement is a mystery. Women live longer than men on average, and often face challenges in saving for a secure retirement. Minority women face even greater challenges. Join the Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) for a webcast that will help you unravel the mystery of retirement planning and reach your retirement goals.
The webcast will help women who are about 10 to 15 years from retirement figure out if their retirement planning is on track and find ways to fill in any savings gap. It will provide tools and information for women of all ages who have questions about retirement planning. EBSA and the Women’s Institute for a Secure Retirement (WISER) will discuss how to make the most of savings opportunities at work and how to make your money last over a possibly long retirement. The webcast also will highlight issues that can make retirement planning more difficult for women, including widowhood and divorce. We will be joined by the Social Security Administration to discuss Social Security retirement benefits and what women may want to consider in deciding when to start receiving benefits.
