Mark your calendars! Three workers from Virginia are traveling to Amsterdam to share their stories at Royal Ahold’s annual general meeting. They will alert shareholders about how Martin’s in the United States is failing to live up to the professed high standards of its Dutch parent company.

The workers— two from Ahold’s non-union Martin’s banner and one from Ahold’s unionized Giant-Landover banner — will explain how the supermarket conglomerate too often leaves its values behind when it crosses the Atlantic, mistreating the very workers Ahold claims it respects and appreciates.
