Walmart wants to open four stores in DC. But, will it operate like it does in Arkansas and elsewhere, playing poverty-level wages with few benefits, driving competitors out of business, forcing the loss of better jobs, and sending our communities deeper into poverty? Or will it respect its workers and its new neighbors for a change?
You can help answer these questions by telling your City Council members to demand that Walmart sign an enforceable Community Benefits Agreement guaranteeing that it will treat its workers with dignity, economic standing and quality of life.
