Walmart announced Wednesday, November 17 that they plan to build 4 stores in
the District by 2012. The retail tycoon is beginning to focus in on D.C.
from their typical target of rural and suburban communities. According to
the Washington Post Walmart plans to build stores of various sizes in places
were retail options are slim. These areas include, on the site of a former
car dealership on Georgia Avenue NW; at New York Avenue and Bladensburg Road
NW; New Jersey Avenue NW; and at East Capitol and 58th strees SE. For the
