Below you will find a brief outline of an organizing campaign and information regarding federal laws that protect your rights to organize your workplace.
STEP 1: INITIAL ORGANIZING & RECOGNITION
Meeting with union Representatives, learning your rights and how to go about forming a union in your workplace.
Once at least 71% of the employees involved fill out union authorization cards the union will file for an election.
Our organizing professionals will help you and your coworkers form an organizing committee that assists in the organizing process. The organizing committee will host education and informational events to show support for the union.
STEP 2: NEGOTIATIONS & RATIFICATION
You will be asked for contract proposals, ideas that you want to be addressed in negotiations.
A negotiating committee will be elected to assist and advise the union negotiators.
After a acceptable contract has been negotiated, that contract will be presented to you and explained in detail. After all questions on the contract have been answered, you will vote to either accept or reject it. Only after a majority vote to accept the contract will anyone become a Union Member!
